Job Description

About Us

Spartan SEM is a digital marketing agency headquartered in South Carolina, built for businesses that mean business. While we’re proud of our SC roots, we work with clients nationwide across legal, healthcare, home services, and other industries, and our team is fully 100% remote. We specialize in SEO, PPC, and web design, running on a retainer model that lets us build long-term partnerships with the businesses we serve rather than one-off projects. We’re under a year old and growing aggressively, which means real ownership, real impact, and real room to grow alongside us. We’re a tight-knit, fast-moving team that values communication, ownership, and doing right by our clients.

Job Summary

We’re looking for an SEO Account Manager to serve as the primary point of contact between Spartan SEM and a portfolio of client accounts. This role sits at the intersection of client relationship management and campaign execution, you’ll be the person clients trust to keep them informed, and the person our internal operations team relies on to keep campaigns on track. You’ll monitor and manage client communications closely, ensure deliverables are hitting deadlines and expectations, and act as the client’s advocate inside Spartan SEM, pushing our internal team to not just meet goals, but exceed them.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact for an assigned book of client accounts, managing day-to-day communication via email and other channels
  • Monitor client communications closely and respond to all client messages within a couple of hours during business hours
  • Coordinate with the operations team to ensure SEO deliverables are completed on time and to the standard clients expect
  • Own monthly client reporting, clearly outlining the previous month’s completed work, SEO progress, and overall campaign performance
  • Lead monthly client meetings as needed to review performance, address questions, and align on next steps
  • Act as an internal advocate for each client, working cross-functionally with the operations team to ensure campaign goals are met and, wherever possible, surpassed
  • Proactively flag risks, delays, or opportunities on an account before they become client-facing issues
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date records of client communications, deliverables, and campaign status

Compensation

  • Base salary: $65,000–$85,000, commensurate with experience
  • Commission structure on top of base pay, tied to client retention and other performance-based KPIs

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in SEO or digital marketing
  • Prior experience in a client-facing role is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously
  • A proactive, ownership-driven mindset, this role is not a good fit for someone who waits to be told what to do
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with an internal operations/execution team
  • Ability to translate SEO performance data into clear, client-friendly reporting and narrative
